Applications
The Scientific-Atlanta 7500 Video Receiver was a widely used piece of headend equipment in cable television and broadcast satellite distribution systems, primarily from the 1980s and early 1990s. Scientific-Atlanta (later acquired by Cisco) was one of the dominant suppliers of satellite ground station and cable headend equipment during this era. The 7500 series receivers were deployed at cable system headend facilities to receive C-band or Ku-band satellite signals carrying video programming and demodulate them for local distribution over the cable plant. The front-panel keypad and LED display allowed operators to tune to specific satellite transponder frequencies and monitor signal quality via the C/N meter. Multiple video and audio outputs made it straightforward to feed downstream distribution amplifiers, modulators, or recording equipment. These receivers are still sought by legacy cable headend operators, satellite earth station technicians, broadcast engineers maintaining period infrastructure, and collectors of professional broadcast equipment.

Beyond confirming power-on, the unit has not been further tested at our facility. The chassis shows normal wear consistent with rack service use.
