Applications
FM data detectors were standard components in C-band and Ku-band satellite earth stations during the 1980s and 1990s. This Hughes 3582710-100 Westar Palapa FM Data Detector has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition overall, with the following noted deficiencies: the top and bottom sheet-metal covers are missing, leaving the internal PCB and components exposed. The front panel and chassis frame are intact and show normal age-related wear consistent with ground station service. The rear connectors (J1 BNC, J2 D-Sub, J3 BNC) appear clean and undamaged. The included AC power cable has visible jacket damage with the inner conductors partially exposed near the middle of the cord — this cable should be replaced before the unit is powered.
