The Uni-Solar PVL-64 is a 64-watt, 12V DC flexible amorphous thin-film solar panel designed for peel-and-stick installation on curved and flat surfaces. It uses a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing to bond directly to metal roofs, RV rooftops, boat decks, and other low-profile surfaces without penetrating fasteners. Electrical connections are made through two solder points located on the bottom of the panel. Each panel is 9 feet long by 15.5 inches wide and ships new, unused, and open box.

Installation Notes

• Bottom solder points are standard for routing cables down through the roof surface
• Top-entry wiring is possible: carefully scrape the top laminate above the solder points, feed wire through from the top, then seal the bottom solder points with caulk
• To use the included junction box: solder a short ~4" wire into each solder point, then glue the j-box over the points and connect the MC3 leads — or simply remove the MC3 wires from the j-box and use them directly
• Customer-reported corrugated metal roof method: attach 18" × 2" metal strips over the adhesive backing every few feet, drive self-tapping screws through the strip ends into the roof, and leave the peel-and-stick covering intact under the strips so the adhesive is preserved for future moves
• Note: Depending on your installation, you may need short jumper wires to connect the solder points to the junction box, and/or a sealant to bond the j-box to the panel surface

Applications

The Uni-Solar PVL-64 is part of United Solar Ovonic's PVL (PowerBond) series of building-integrated and surface-mount flexible panels, designed specifically for standing-seam metal roofs, RV rooftops, marine vessel decks, and other surfaces where a rigid framed panel is impractical. Amorphous silicon technology performs better than crystalline silicon under low-light and diffuse conditions and handles partial shading more gracefully, making it well suited for the irregular sun exposure common on vehicle and boat rooftops.
