Applications
Butyl rubber edge glazing tapes of this type are used in the manufacturing of solar panels as a primary sealant at the perimeter edge where the glazing layers meet the frame or laminate stack. The primed formulation promotes adhesion to both rigid glass lites and flexible ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) top skins, which are common in thin-film and flexible photovoltaic modules. This tape was used by Solopower in their production processes for edge caulking and glazing on both glass-fronted and ETFE-fronted solar panels. It is suited for solar panel assembly operations requiring a conformable, moisture-resistant perimeter seal, and may also find application in architectural glazing and insulating glass unit (IGU) manufacturing where butyl edge sealants are specified.
This Quanex Solargain 614-7528-P93 Primed Butyl Edge Tape is new old stock in original manufacturer packaging. The 11 rolls are vacuum sealed inside a Mylar barrier bag, which is housed in the original sealed carton. Please note that one Mylar bag was opened for the product photos shown — the rolls remain unused and in new condition. The carton label confirms manufacturing date of May 2016 and a nominal expiration date of November 2016; buyers should assess suitability for their application given the storage age of the material.
