Description
Oriel 150W Arc Lamp Housing UXL-S150M0 AO 25X WF Optics Photodiode 68855 XY Stage
This is a complete Oriel 150W arc lamp sub-assembly pulled from a custom-built McBain Mask Alignment System. The assembly integrates an Oriel lamp housing loaded with a UXL-S150M0 150-watt arc lamp, precision American Optical (AO) 25X Wide Field optics (Cat. 186), an Oriel 68855 photodiode sensor, a pneumatic exposure shutter controlled by a PHD actuator, and an XY linear stage on a flanged rotary base. The power supply is not included.

Applications
Arc lamp assemblies of this type are core components in contact and proximity mask aligners used in photolithography — the process of transferring circuit patterns onto semiconductor wafers or glass substrates using UV light. In a mask aligner, the arc lamp provides the broadband UV illumination source, the optics collimate and condition the beam, the photodiode sensor monitors exposure dose, and the pneumatic shutter controls exposure timing with precision. McBain Instruments was a manufacturer of mask alignment systems used widely in university microfabrication labs, MEMS research, and small-volume semiconductor production from the 1980s through the 1990s. These systems used 150W xenon or mercury-xenon arc lamps — such as the Oriel UXL-S150M0 — as their exposure source. This sub-assembly would be of interest to researchers maintaining legacy McBain or similar mask aligners, or to labs building custom photolithography exposure stations where a calibrated arc lamp source with integrated photodiode dosimetry and XY positioning is needed.
This Oriel 150W arc lamp housing assembly with UXL-S150M0 lamp, AO 25X WF optics, Oriel 68855 photodiode sensor, pneumatic shutter, and XY linear stage was pulled from a custom-built McBain mask aligner that was dismantled for parts. The assembly appears to be in good used condition overall — components are intact and the unit shows normal wear consistent with photolithography lab use. The lamp housing, optics barrel, photodiode, and stage hardware all appear complete and undamaged in the photos. Note that the power supply is not included.
