The LNR Communications UC6-D1 is a dual 1:1 redundant C-Band satellite upconverter system manufactured by LNR Communications Inc. of Hauppauge, New York. The system houses two independent UC6-D1 upconverter modules (P/N 004003-1 and P/N 004003-2) in a single rackmount chassis along with an integrated Control section that manages automatic or manual switchover between the two upconverter paths. This type of redundant upconverter system converts an intermediate frequency (IF) signal to a C-Band RF transmit frequency for satellite earth station uplinks.

Applications
C-Band redundant upconverter systems like the LNR UC6-D1 are used at satellite earth stations and teleport facilities to convert IF signals (typically 50–90 MHz or 70/140 MHz) to C-Band transmit frequencies (5.850–6.425 GHz for standard C-Band FSS uplinks) before the signal is amplified by a high-power amplifier (HPA) and fed to the dish. The 1:1 redundant configuration keeps a standby upconverter online at all times; if the primary path develops a fault, the control section can switch the signal path to the backup unit — either automatically or under manual command — with minimal service interruption. LNR Communications was a recognized manufacturer of satcom upconverter and downconverter equipment for commercial and government earth stations. This system dates from the era when dedicated rackmount redundancy controllers of this type were standard infrastructure at broadcast uplink facilities, teleports, and military SATCOM ground terminals. These systems are still sought after for legacy earth station maintenance, spare-parts sourcing, and low-volume C-Band uplink operations.
This LNR Communications UC6-D1 dual C-Band redundant satcom upconverter system powers on and the front panel indicators light up. We were not able to test it further beyond power-on at our facility, so full RF/IF performance cannot be confirmed. The chassis exterior shows moderate wear — the top cover has visible surface marks and handprints, and there are minor scuffs on the front panels. Internally, some module bays appear partially populated and handwritten notes are visible on internal components, suggesting this system was previously in service and may have been partially reconfigured.
