LNR Communications HCL/4 E-Band WR-229 Hot Cold Load RF Attenuator Portable
The LNR Communications HCL/4 is a portable E-Band hot/cold noise calibration load designed for waveguide measurements in the WR-229 frequency range. Hot/cold loads of this type are used as precision noise temperature standards: the load element is cooled (typically with liquid nitrogen) or left at ambient temperature to provide two known reference noise temperatures, which are used to calibrate noise figure meters, radiometers, and receiver test systems. The HCL/4 houses the brass waveguide termination element inside an insulated stainless steel cavity within a custom-built wooden carry case, with a WR-229 aluminum waveguide transition arm providing the RF interface.
