Applications

Business card scanners like the IBCR II are used to digitize paper business cards into contact management software, eliminating manual data entry. The IRIS IBCR II was designed for home and office use, typically pairing with IRIS-branded CardIris or similar OCR contact-management software to extract name, phone, email, and address fields from scanned cards and export them to address books, CRM systems, or Microsoft Outlook. This type of compact USB scanner was popular in the early-to-mid 2000s when business card exchange was a standard professional practice and portable, bus-powered devices were valued for desk-side or travel use. Legacy units like this are still sought for use with older contact management workflows or as a backup scanner.
