The Xunlight XLS8-52 is a 52-watt, 12-volt nominal flexible amorphous silicon solar panel built with an ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) top sheet in place of conventional glass. The rollable, lightweight design makes it practical for curved or irregular mounting surfaces where a rigid panel would not work. These panels are factory seconds produced at the Xunlight facility in Ohio before the company closed in 2016 — they were never sold by the manufacturer and have not been in service.

Applications

The untrimmed edges on these factory-second panels leave extra material along the border, which gives you room to punch your own grommets, add tie-down points, or route fasteners through the panel perimeter without cutting into the active cell area — a practical advantage for custom DIY installations. Xunlight was an Ohio-based thin-film solar manufacturer active in the mid-to-late 2000s through 2016; these panels represent one of the few remaining stocks of their domestic thin-film production.
These Xunlight XLS8-52 52W flexible amorphous solar panels are factory seconds that were never sold by the manufacturer before the Xunlight facility closed in 2016. As factory seconds, they have cosmetic issues and have not been trimmed to final dimensions — the untrimmed edges are visible in the photos. The cosmetic issues are surface-level; the panels are otherwise in good physical shape. The untrimmed border actually gives you extra material to add your own grommets, tie-downs, or side penetrations for custom mounting. A "Quality Hold" label is visible in the photos, consistent with the factory-second status.
