The Watlow G9N-13995 is a FIREROD cartridge immersion heater element designed for insertion into drilled holes in metal tooling, dies, molds, platens, and process equipment to provide precise, localized electric resistance heating. The stainless steel sheath houses a coiled resistance wire element insulated with compacted magnesium oxide (MgO), and the unit terminates in bare lead wires for direct connection to a control circuit. Manufactured by Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co. of St. Louis, Missouri, the FIREROD line is one of the most widely used cartridge heater families in industrial process heating.

Applications
FIREROD cartridge heaters are a standard electric heating element used throughout industrial manufacturing and process industries. They are inserted into precision-drilled bores in metal components — including injection mold tooling, die casting dies, hot runner manifolds, platens, heated rolls, packaging machinery, and semiconductor process fixtures — where direct conductive heat transfer to the surrounding metal is required. The 3/8" diameter is one of the most common cartridge heater sizes in tooling applications. At 240V/180W, this element is suited for small-bore heating zones requiring moderate watt density. Watlow FIREROD elements are also widely used in laboratory heating apparatus, food processing equipment, and custom OEM thermal assemblies. The bare-wire lead termination allows connection to thermocouples, solid-state relays, or PID controllers in a complete heating circuit. Watlow has manufactured FIREROD cartridge heaters in St. Louis since the mid-20th century, and the product line remains in active production and everyday industrial use today.
