Applications

The IEEE-488 bus (also known as GPIB or HPIB — Hewlett-Packard Instrument Bus, the name HP used for the standard they originally developed) is the industry-standard parallel interface for connecting programmable test and measurement instruments. It is used to link instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and multimeters to a GPIB controller card in a PC or workstation, enabling automated test sequences, data logging, and remote instrument control. The standard was formalized as IEEE-488 in 1975 and remains in active use today across laboratory, production-test, and ATE (automated test equipment) environments. The HP 10833 series of GPIB cables were produced in multiple lengths (A through D) and are compatible with any IEEE-488-compliant device regardless of manufacturer — Agilent, Keysight, Tektronix, National Instruments, and many others. A 4-meter cable is well suited for connecting instruments across a rack or bench where a shorter 1-meter or 2-meter cable would not reach.

Condition: Used
This HP 10833C GPIB/HPIB IEEE-488 cable has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. Both straight 24-pin connectors are intact with clean, undamaged pins, and the gray cable jacket shows only minor surface scuffing typical of normal use.
