The Burkert Model 290 is a direct-acting, 2/2-way (two-port, two-position) solenoid valve in a normally closed configuration. In its de-energized state the valve is closed; applying 24V AC or DC to the coil opens the valve to allow flow. Applications
The Burkert 290 series is a widely used general-purpose solenoid valve found across process industries, laboratory automation, food and beverage, chemical processing, and OEM fluid-control systems. The 2/2-way normally closed design is the standard configuration for on/off fluid or gas shutoff — when power is cut, the valve closes and flow stops, which is the fail-safe behavior required in most process and safety applications. The stainless steel body and Viton seals handle a broad range of media including water, steam, oils, mild acids, and many solvents, and the NEMA 4/IP65 enclosure allows the valve to be mounted in wet or washdown environments.
