Description
Avantek ASAT-1214-1004 4W RF Amplifier 70MHz WR75 Waveguide 305-037808-104
The Avantek ASAT-1214-1004 is a 4-watt RF amplifier module housed in a sealed, finned aluminum enclosure designed for use in satellite and microwave communication systems. It interfaces at RF via WR75 waveguide ports (INPUT and OUTPUT on the rear panel) and provides 70 MHz IF signal access through three front-panel SMA coax ports. An ALC (Automatic Level Control) adjustment trimmer on the front panel allows output level fine-tuning. Per the label, this RF package must be operated with a power supply marked PS110-004 or part number 310-037769-001 or 310-037769-002 — the power supply is not included with this unit.

Applications
The Avantek ASAT series amplifiers are used in satellite earth station and microwave link equipment where a compact, self-contained RF amplifier package is needed. The WR75 waveguide interface covers the Ku-band or X-band input/output, while the 70 MHz IF ports are characteristic of traditional satellite ground station architecture, where 70 MHz is the standard intermediate frequency used between the modem/baseband equipment and the up/down converters. Avantek (later acquired by HP/Agilent and subsequently folded into other RF component lines) was a prominent U.S. manufacturer of microwave transistors, amplifiers, and subsystems from the 1960s through the 1990s, and their enclosed amplifier packages of this type were widely used in fixed and transportable VSAT, broadcast uplink, and military satcom ground terminals. Units like this are still sought by engineers maintaining legacy earth station equipment and for use as building blocks in custom microwave test setups.
Avantek ASAT-1214-1004 4W RF Amplifier in used condition. This unit was pulled from active service and has been inspected. The aluminum enclosure shows normal surface wear and light scuffing from field use. The front-panel SMA coax ports and power connector are intact with the connector capped for protection. The rear WR75 waveguide input flange shows oxidation and surface corrosion — check the photos closely. The output waveguide port has a blank cover installed. Requires a separate power supply (PS110-004 or equivalent, not included).
