Description
Weston Model 741 DC Voltmeter 0-100V Panel Meter 200 Ohms/Volt Analog
The Weston Model 741 is a square panel-mount analog DC voltmeter with a 0-100 VDC primary measurement range. The dial face carries a dual scale: a primary 0-100V scale marked in 20-volt increments and a secondary 0-500V scale for use with an external multiplier resistor, noted on the face as "Use Ext. Resistor for High Range." Sensitivity is 200 ohms per volt. The movement is a D'Arsonval moving-coil type housed in a square bakelite case with rear screw terminals for wiring into a panel.

Applications
Panel-mount analog voltmeters like the Weston Model 741 are used to display DC voltage directly on electrical panels, switchboards, control cabinets, and power distribution equipment. The Weston Electrical Instrument Corporation was a major American manufacturer of precision electrical instruments from the late 19th century through much of the 20th century, and their panel meters were widely used in industrial, utility, and laboratory settings. A meter of this type would have been installed in a fixed panel position, wired in parallel across the circuit being monitored, providing a continuous local voltage reading without the need for a handheld instrument. The secondary 0-500V scale extends the meter's usefulness in higher-voltage DC circuits when paired with an appropriate external multiplier resistor. Meters of this era and style are still sought for restoration of vintage electrical equipment, custom panel builds, and display purposes.
This Weston Model 741 DC panel voltmeter is in good used condition. The analog dial face is intact and legible, with the needle resting at zero. The bakelite housing shows some dirt and light wear at the lower corners — visible in the close-up photos — consistent with age and storage. The rear screw terminals are present and appear undamaged. This meter was not bench-tested at our facility, but shows no obvious signs of damage or abuse. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
