Applications
Wellfleet Communications was a leading enterprise networking company of the late 1980s and early 1990s, known for their high-performance multi-protocol routers used in corporate WANs and early Internet backbone infrastructure. The ACE-32 board is a processor/controller module designed for the Wellfleet router chassis of that era, providing the central processing capability for packet routing, WAN interface management, and protocol handling. These boards are sought today by organizations maintaining legacy Wellfleet or early Bay Networks routing equipment, as well as by collectors of early enterprise networking hardware. This Wellfleet 103872 ACE-32 circuit board has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The PCB shows no obvious physical damage — solder joints look intact, ICs are seated, and the gold edge connectors show typical light oxidation consistent with age. The board dates from 1992 (date code 92/24) and the Motorola MC68020RC33E CPU is present and undamaged in its ceramic PGA socket. Some general shelf dust and minor handling marks are visible across the board surface. It has not been powered or tested at our facility.
