Description
Unbranded Magnetic Proximity Sensor Reed Switch w/ Mounting Bracket Long Cable
This is an unbranded magnetic proximity reed switch with an integrated mounting bracket and a long two-wire lead cable terminating in spade connectors. The sensor uses a reed switch mechanism: a sealed glass capsule containing two ferromagnetic contacts that close (or open) in the presence of a magnetic field. When a magnet is brought near the sensor body, the reed contacts actuate, completing or breaking the circuit without any physical contact between moving parts.
Specifications & What's Included
- Type: Magnetic proximity sensor (reed switch)
- Operating principle: Reed contact — actuates in response to an external magnetic field
- Housing: Rectangular gray plastic body with integrated metal mounting bracket and two screw-mount flanges
- Reed contact elements: Two parallel metallic reed strips, visible and intact inside housing window
- Lead cable: Long black two-conductor cable (bundled with tape)
- Termination: Two white insulated female spade / blade terminals
- Number of wires: 2
- Brand: Unbranded (no manufacturer markings legible)
- Included: Sensor with mounting bracket and full lead cable assembly
Applications
Magnetic proximity reed switches are widely used in industrial automation, machine guarding, and position detection applications. They are commonly found in cabinet door interlock circuits, conveyor position sensing, end-of-travel detection on actuators and slides, and security or access-control systems. Because reed switches operate contactlessly — triggered purely by a magnetic field — they are well suited to environments where mechanical wear from repeated cycling is a concern. This style of bracket-mount sensor with a long lead cable is typical of panel-mount installations in machine enclosures, where the sensor is fixed to a stationary surface and a magnet travels with a moving component (a door, gate, or carriage). Reed switch sensors of this type remain a cost-effective and widely-specified solution in both new machine builds and maintenance/replacement scenarios across factory automation, HVAC controls, and equipment interlocking.
This unbranded magnetic proximity reed switch has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service. The sensor body and mounting bracket show light surface wear consistent with normal use. The reed contact elements are visible and intact, the lead cable is intact along its full length, and the spade terminals at the wire ends are clean and undamaged. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
