Open reel magnetic tape cartridge for 9-track mainframe data storage and archival. Records and reads digital data at 3200 FCI (Flux Changes per Inch) density using NRZI/Phase Encoded recording standard.

Applications
This tape reel was used with IBM mainframe storage systems including the IBM 3420 and 3480, as well as Unisys and Burroughs mainframe 9-track drives. Open reel magnetic tape served as the primary backup and archival medium for enterprise data processing environments through the 1980s and 1990s, storing application data, transaction logs, and system backups.
Condition: Used
This Syncron 9-Track 1/2" Certified Total Surface Magnetic Tape Reel has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The reel itself is intact with no visible cracks or breaks to the plastic hub or flanges. The tape leader is present and the tape appears to be fully wound on the reel. The reel shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with prior use and storage, including some soiling and minor surface marks on the front face visible in our photos. An asset/lot tag is affixed to the front. This reel is being sold as a tape media component only — no canister or storage case is included.
