DDS-2 is the second generation of the DAT-based backup tape standard, offering higher capacity than original DDS-1 media while remaining backward-compatible with DDS drives that support the format. Applications
DDS-2 DAT cartridges were widely used in workstation and server environments throughout the 1990s and early 2000s for data backup and archival.
