Description

SoloPower SP3L-160 160W Flexible CIGS Solar Panel 65.1V 3.4A Solder Tabs

The SoloPower SP3L-160 is a 160-watt flexible thin-film solar panel using CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) photovoltaic technology. Unlike rigid crystalline silicon panels, this panel is built on a flexible substrate just 2mm thick, allowing it to roll up for storage or conform to curved mounting surfaces. It consists of 180 series-connected CIGS cells, each rated to produce 1 to 1.5 watts. These panels are genuine new old stock manufactured at SoloPower's Portland, Oregon facility before the company closed and was liquidated in 2019. No cables are included; output connection is made via the solder point metal tabs at the panel edge.

Applications

CIGS thin-film solar panels like the SP3L-160 are used in applications where weight, flexibility, or low-profile mounting is a priority. The flexible substrate makes this panel suitable for curved or irregular surfaces such as marine vessel decks and cabin tops, RV and camper van roofs, and building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) installations where rigid panels cannot be mounted. At 65.1V Vmp and a 600VDC max system voltage, the SP3L-160 is compatible with a range of charge controllers and grid-tie inverters. The high open-circuit voltage (91.8V) relative to a standard 12V or 24V battery system means it works well with MPPT charge controllers. CIGS technology generally performs better than monocrystalline silicon panels in low-light and high-temperature conditions, making it a practical choice for marine and mobile off-grid systems. SoloPower focused on commercial and specialty markets, and the SP3L series was among the longest large-format flexible panels produced in the United States during the company's operation in the early 2010s.

Condition: New
This SoloPower SP3L-160 160W Flexible CIGS Solar Panel is new and unused. These panels come from SoloPower's Portland, Oregon manufacturing facility, which closed and was liquidated in 2019 — making this genuine new old stock from the original production run. The panel is in new condition and shows no signs of wear or use. Panels ship without a label affixed (the label shown in photos is an example only) and without cables — connection is made via the solder point metal tabs at the panel edge, where you attach your own wiring.
