Description
SoloPower SP1-85 85W Flexible Thin Film CIGS Solar Panel 23.3V Rooftop
The SoloPower SP1-85 is an 85-watt flexible thin film solar panel using CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) photovoltaic technology. At just 0.1 inches thick and 4.6 lbs, it is dramatically lighter and thinner than conventional rigid glass solar panels, and its flexible substrate allows it to conform to curved or low-slope roof surfaces. These panels were manufactured by SoloPower at their San Jose, California facility.

Applications
CIGS thin film solar panels like the SP1-85 are used in rooftop photovoltaic systems where weight and thickness are critical constraints — particularly on flat or low-slope commercial roofs, metal standing-seam roofs, and membrane roofing systems that cannot support the load of conventional glass-framed panels. The flexible form factor allows the panel to lie directly against the roof surface without racking hardware, which simplifies installation and reduces roof penetrations. SoloPower's SP1 series was designed specifically for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and commercial low-slope rooftop applications. CIGS technology offers good performance in diffuse light conditions and is well-suited to large-area commercial roof deployments. These panels output 24V nominal, making them compatible with standard 24V battery charge controllers and grid-tied inverters configured for that string voltage.
This SoloPower SP1-85 85W flexible CIGS solar panel came directly from SoloPower's QC department at their San Jose, California facility and has been tested to output voltage. As is typical of panels from this source, most units have handwritten QC test notations on the frame or surface — this is normal and does not affect function. The CIGS thin film cell surface shows some surface marks and minor scuffs consistent with QC handling and test use. Both MC4 output leads (male and female) are present and in usable condition. Please review our photos carefully for the specific unit's markings and surface condition, and contact us if you have any questions.
