Description
SMC EX250-SDN1 DeviceNet SI Air Valve Manifold 24VDC 9-Station PLC Controlled
The SMC EX250-SDN1 is a DeviceNet SI series fieldbus valve manifold designed for PLC-controlled pneumatic automation systems. It integrates a DeviceNet communications node directly into a multi-station solenoid valve bank, allowing a single network connection to control multiple pneumatic actuators — reducing wiring and centralizing control in automated industrial processes. This unit carries 9 valve stations mounted on a common manifold rail, with NAN500-N06 exhaust silencers at both ends and M12 circular connectors for the DeviceNet BUS and power (PWR) connections.

Applications
The SMC EX250 series DeviceNet valve manifolds are used in industrial factory automation where multiple pneumatic cylinders or actuators need to be controlled via a PLC over a DeviceNet fieldbus network. Common applications include robotic end-of-arm tooling, assembly line clamping and part-transfer systems, semiconductor handling equipment, automotive manufacturing jigs, and packaging machinery. DeviceNet, introduced in the early 1990s by Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) and widely adopted through the 2000s and beyond, allows the manifold to receive valve open/close commands directly over the network, eliminating individual point-to-point wiring to each solenoid. The EX250-SDN1 specifically targets systems built around Allen-Bradley or other DeviceNet-compatible PLCs. These manifolds remain in active use in many installed industrial automation systems worldwide, and are a common replacement or spare part for production lines using DeviceNet fieldbus architecture.
This SMC EX250-SDN1 DeviceNet SI Air Valve Manifold was pulled from a working industrial environment where it was in active use. The manifold assembly is intact and complete with all 9 valve stations, NAN500-N06 silencers on both ends, and M12 BUS and PWR connectors. The notable cosmetic issue is a significant crack in the plastic housing on one side panel — clearly visible in our photos. All valve solenoids and indicators appear physically intact. The crack is a cosmetic/structural defect in the enclosure only; it was in use and functional at time of removal.
