Description
Singer Stoddart NM-65T Radio Interference Analyzer Receiver 1-10 GHz EMI RFI
The Singer Stoddart NM-65T is a benchtop radio interference analyzer and EMI receiver covering 1 to 10 GHz, manufactured by the Ailtech Division of Cutler-Hammer in Los Angeles, California. It is designed to measure conducted and radiated RF interference signals in compliance with military and commercial EMI test specifications. The NM-65T uses a superheterodyne receiver architecture with a logarithmic IF amplifier, providing a calibrated analog meter display in microvolts, dB referred to 1 µV, and -dBm.

Applications
The NM-65T belongs to the Singer Stoddart line of precision EMI receivers that were widely used for military and commercial electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance testing from the 1960s through the 1980s. These instruments measure the amplitude of unintentional radio frequency emissions from electronic equipment and systems, verifying compliance with standards such as MIL-STD-461 and its predecessors (MIL-I-6181, MIL-I-11748, MIL-STD-826) as well as commercial FCC and CISPR specifications. The 1–10 GHz coverage makes the NM-65T suitable for measuring radiated emissions from microwave-frequency sources including radar subsystems, communications equipment, and high-speed digital electronics. The multiple video outputs allow the signal to be fed to an external oscilloscope, X-Y recorder, or spectrum display for documentation. The built-in battery operation capability was valued for field measurements and shipboard use where clean AC power was not always available. Today these instruments are used in legacy EMC labs, military depot maintenance, and by collectors and researchers working with vintage EMI test setups.
This Singer Stoddart NM-65T Radio Interference Analyzer/Receiver has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it was pulled from a working operational environment where it was previously in service. The front and rear panels are intact with all knobs, switches, and BNC connectors present. The unit shows typical aging and surface wear consistent with its vintage — some scuffing and light oxidation on the painted steel chassis — but there is no obvious physical damage. A calibration chart from Ornel Labs is still attached to the front panel. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
