The Scientific Atlanta PowerVu Plus D9224 is a professional-grade 2U rackmount integrated satellite receiver/decoder (IRD) designed for broadcast and headend applications. Applications
The PowerVu Plus platform was Scientific Atlanta's professional digital satellite receiver line for broadcast headend and cable television distribution facilities. These IRDs were widely deployed by cable operators, television networks, broadcast affiliates, and satellite uplink facilities throughout the 1990s and 2000s to receive encrypted and clear DVB-standard satellite feeds. The D9224 variant supports Scientific Atlanta's proprietary PowerVu conditional access system, which was commonly used for distributing network programming and sports content via C-band satellite to cable headends and broadcast stations across North America and internationally. Units like this are still found in legacy cable headend installations, satellite monitoring facilities, and surplus broadcast equipment inventories, and are sought by engineers maintaining or reverse-engineering older distribution infrastructure.
This Scientific Atlanta PowerVu Plus D9224 digital satellite receiver is in used condition with two cosmetic issues noted: the front handle bracket is broken (the detached piece is included), and the rubber feet are missing from the bottom of the chassis. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it was pulled from a working operational environment where it was previously in service.
