The D9260 PowerVu Interface Translator is a headend signal-routing component used in cable television, satellite broadcast distribution, and SMATV (Satellite Master Antenna Television) facilities. Scientific Atlanta's PowerVu platform was a widely deployed conditional access and digital video distribution system used by cable operators and broadcasters from the 1990s through the 2000s to deliver encrypted MPEG transport streams via satellite. The D9260 IFT specifically handles the interface conversion between the SWIF format — Scientific Atlanta's proprietary wideband IF distribution used internally within headend rack systems — and standard DVB-ASI, which is the industry-standard parallel/serial transport stream interface used to interconnect encoders, multiplexers, IRDs, and other headend components.
