Description

Racore A8102-000 LANPAC II 8-Bit ISA Network Card 3000-0041 Rev E

The Racore A8102-000 is the LANPAC II 8-bit ISA network interface card, designed to add Ethernet LAN connectivity to IBM PC/XT-class computers and compatible systems equipped with an 8-bit ISA expansion slot. The card connects via a BNC thin coaxial connector (10BASE2 / Thinnet) on the rear bracket, making it a representative example of early PC networking hardware from the mid-to-late 1980s era.

Applications

The Racore LANPAC II was designed for use in IBM PC and PC/XT systems — 8088/8086-based machines that could only accept 8-bit ISA cards — as well as compatible clones of the same era. These early ISA network cards provided thin Ethernet (10BASE2) connectivity, linking PCs into small coaxial bus LANs using BNC T-connectors and RG-58 coaxial cable. This type of card dates from the mid-to-late 1980s, when 10BASE2 Thinnet was one of the dominant LAN wiring methods before 10BASE-T twisted-pair became standard. Today, cards like this are sought by collectors restoring vintage IBM PC/XT systems, hobbyists building period-accurate retro computing setups, and engineers maintaining legacy industrial or scientific systems that still run on original 8-bit PC hardware.
