Description
Oriel Coated Optical Mirror Anti-Vibration Mounts Laser IR 3x3.3 & 2x2 Lot
This is a lot of two Oriel coated optical mirror mounts with integrated anti-vibration isolation, made by Oriel Corp. of America (Stamford, CT). Each mount holds a coated optical mirror — coated for use with lasers, infrared (IR), or light filtering applications — and features an adjustable angle of deflection for beam steering. The mounts are constructed from black anodized aluminum with rubber anti-vibration isolation pads between the body plates to damp vibration from the optical table or breadboard surface.
Specifications & What's Included
- Lot of 2 anti-vibration optical mirror mounts with coated mirrors installed
- Mount 1 (larger): body approximately 3 x 3.3 in; stem 5-7/8 in long, 11/16 in diameter
- Mount 2 (smaller): body approximately 2 x 2 in; stem 4 in long, 1/2 in diameter
- Mirror coating: blue/teal reflective coating visible — coated for laser and/or IR wavelengths
- Adjustable angle of deflection on each mount
- Anti-vibration isolation: rubber isolation pads integrated beneath the mount body
- Body material: black anodized aluminum
- Stems: polished steel, straight, for post mounting on optical breadboard or table
- Manufacturer: Oriel Corp. of America, Stamford, CT
- Exact mirror coating specification and wavelength range not confirmed
Applications
Oriel mirror mounts like these are standard components in optical lab setups on optical breadboards and vibration-isolated optical tables. They are used to precisely steer, redirect, or fold laser beams or IR radiation along a defined optical path — common tasks in spectroscopy, interferometry, holography, and laser characterization work. The anti-vibration isolation pads help reduce coupling of building or table vibration into the optical path, which is important when alignment tolerances are tight. Oriel Corporation (later acquired by Newport) was a major supplier of photonics and optical components to university research labs, industrial R&D, and government facilities from the 1970s onward. Coated mirrors of this type remain in everyday use in active laser labs and optical test setups, and are also sought by researchers maintaining legacy Oriel-based optical systems.
These Oriel coated optical mirror anti-vibration mounts have been inspected and are in good used condition. Both mounts appear clean and structurally sound. The blue/teal coated mirror surfaces show no obvious damage or delamination. The black anodized aluminum bodies show light surface wear consistent with lab use. The larger mount's rubber anti-vibration isolation pads are intact and the adjustment mechanism moves freely. The stems show minor scuffing but are straight.
