The Newtec DVB RX 2060 is a professional rackmount DVB+8 satellite demodulator designed for receiving and demodulating DVB-S signals in broadcast, teleport, and satellite uplink/downlink environments. Manufactured by Newtec CY (Belgium), it accepts an L-band IF input and processes QPSK-modulated DVB signals, outputting decoded data via an SP/RS422 interface. The front panel features an alphanumeric LCD display, a full numeric keypad for parameter entry, and LED indicators for mode and alarm status.

Applications

They accept a downconverted L-band IF signal from a block downconverter (BDC) or LNB, recover the QPSK-modulated carrier, and output the decoded MPEG transport stream for downstream IRDs, encoders, or distribution equipment. The DVB+8 designation refers to Newtec's DVB-S implementation with enhanced forward error correction and processing. Equipment of this generation — mid-to-late 1990s professional broadcast satellite gear — was widely deployed in satellite news gathering (SNG), network distribution, and permanent teleport receive installations throughout that era. The RX 2060 is suited for legacy receive-chain maintenance, lab testing of DVB-S signal chains, broadcast archive environments, and operators still running compatible Newtec satellite infrastructure.
This Newtec DVB RX 2060 DVB+8 Satellite Demodulator powers on, the display lights up, and the unit passes its boot-up self-test. All front-panel buttons appear to work. We are not able to test it further at our facility, so it is being sold as inspected to that point. The chassis top shows notable iridescent discoloration and oxidation, which is cosmetic only. The front panel, keypad, and LCD are in good shape. Rear connectors and ports appear intact with no visible damage.
