The Montalvo U25 is a pillow block-mount load cell designed for web tension measurement in continuous processing and converting applications. It mounts directly beneath standard pillow block bearings, allowing integration into existing roller systems without major frame modifications. The U25 uses a full Wheatstone bridge strain gauge configuration to deliver proportional tension feedback across a wide load range.

Applications

In these applications, load cells mounted at the roller shaft measure the tension in the running web and feed a signal back to a tension controller or amplifier — allowing closed-loop control of unwind, rewind, and intermediate drive zones. The U25 specifically suits retrofit installations where pillow block bearings are already in place, as it requires no frame redesign. It is compatible with Montalvo tension controllers and most third-party tension amplifiers that accept millivolt-per-volt strain gauge bridge signals.

This Montalvo U25 Pillow Block Load Cell has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service with web tension control equipment. The aluminum body shows typical wear consistent with industrial use, including visible surface oxidation and rust staining on the corner edges and end faces — particularly on the mounting bolt areas as seen in the photos.
