Description
MICOM Marathon 1K 5001B/D Network Feeder Multiplexer 100-240V 50-60Hz
The MICOM Marathon 1K 5001B/D is a standalone network feeder multiplexer designed to aggregate and distribute data traffic across wide-area network connections. Part of MICOM's Marathon 1K product line, it provides multi-port statistical multiplexing in a compact desktop enclosure, allowing multiple data streams to share a common network trunk. The unit is rated for universal AC input (100–240V, 50–60Hz) making it suitable for both North American and international deployments.

Applications
MICOM's Marathon 1K series multiplexers were widely deployed in enterprise and government wide-area network environments from the late 1980s through the 1990s. Network feeder multiplexers of this type served as the access layer of a tiered multiplexing hierarchy: the feeder unit aggregated traffic from multiple asynchronous or synchronous data terminals or devices at a remote or branch site, then fed the combined stream up to a higher-level (backbone) multiplexer for long-haul WAN transport. This architecture was a standard approach to reducing leased-line costs by maximizing utilization of expensive T1 or lower-speed WAN circuits. The multiple DB25 ports supported connections to terminals, printers, modems, and other DTE/DCE equipment common in that era. The Marathon 1K line was used in data centers, corporate branch offices, military installations, and government networks. Today, units like this are sought by organizations maintaining legacy MICOM networks, by collectors of vintage networking hardware, and occasionally for specialized serial data aggregation in industrial or legacy-system environments.
This MICOM Marathon 1K 5001B/D Network Feeder Multiplexer has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was in active use. The chassis exterior shows light surface scuffing and minor wear consistent with normal office/lab use, but no cracks, dents, or damage. The rear DB25 ports and IEC power inlet appear clean and intact. The interior board (visible with the lid open) looks complete with no obvious damage, missing components, or corrosion. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
