Applications
The EUK-66HN1A is a step-up high-voltage supply of the type commonly used to drive neon and gas-discharge sign tubes, where sustained high-voltage at low current is needed to ionize the gas and maintain a stable glow discharge. These compact HV units were also standard components in photocopiers and laser printers of the 1980s and 1990s, where a high-voltage corona discharge wire is used to electrostatically charge the photosensitive drum — Matsushita Electric (the parent company of the Panasonic brand) produced many such units for OEM integration into printing and imaging equipment of that era. Additional applications include high-voltage laboratory experiments, electrostatic precipitation, ion generation, and any low-current high-voltage circuit requiring a reliable +6kV supply from a 100V source. The low output current (2mA) makes this unit appropriate for controlled laboratory and instrumentation contexts. Because the input is rated for 100V only, a step-down transformer or variac is required when operating from a standard 120V North American supply.
This Matsushita EUK-66HN1A High Voltage Unit has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was in regular use. The gray metal enclosure is intact with no visible structural damage. The red rating label is fully legible. The HV output cable and white input connector show some surface soiling and general age-related wear consistent with prior service use, as visible in the photos. The unit retains its mounting feet.
