Applications
The Leitch VPA-330N is a broadcast-grade video proc amp — the type of processing amplifier that was standard equipment in television production facilities, master control rooms, and mobile broadcast trucks from the 1980s through the early 2000s. Proc amps of this class were used to restore or adjust the sync, luminance, and chroma levels of an analog composite video signal before it was routed to a switcher, tape deck, or transmitter. The AGC function compensated for variations in signal amplitude across long cable runs, while the Fade and Bypass controls gave operators the ability to smoothly ramp the output to black or pass the signal unprocessed. The separate Preview and Program outputs allowed the unit to feed both a monitoring bus and a program bus simultaneously. Leitch (later acquired by Harris Corporation) was a well-regarded Canadian manufacturer of broadcast signal processing and routing equipment; the VPA series was part of their line of analog video infrastructure gear targeted at professional broadcast and post-production facilities.
This Leitch VPA-330N Video Processing Amplifier has been inspected and is in good cosmetic condition. It was pulled from a working broadcast environment. The front-panel LEDs illuminate.
