ITM Systems ITM-141Q Dual RF Generator LPA Waveguide Rackmount Satcom

The ITM Systems ITM-141Q is a rackmount dual-channel RF generator and power amplifier system designed for satellite communications ground station applications. It houses two independent LPA (Low Power Amplifier) chains — LPA 1 and LPA 2 — each with its own front-panel LED watt meter display showing RF output in watts. A waveguide hybrid combiner on the rear allows the two amplifier outputs to be combined or switched for redundancy or increased power, feeding four rectangular waveguide output ports. The front panel includes a main power toggle switch, Low RF Trip and Reset controls for each LPA channel, and a set of mode switches for Local, Remote, Auto, and Manual operation, as well as an On-Line selector with LED status indicators.

Applications

The ITM-141Q is a satellite ground station component used in satcom uplink chains, where redundant or combined RF drive power is needed ahead of a high-power amplifier (HPA) or traveling-wave tube amplifier (TWTA). Systems like this handle the low- to medium-power RF signal generation and amplification stage, with the waveguide outputs feeding directly into the uplink chain. The dual-LPA architecture with a waveguide combiner is a classic 1+1 redundancy arrangement: either amplifier can carry the load, and the hybrid combiner allows automatic or manual switchover if one LPA trips — a standard protection scheme in commercial and government satellite ground stations. The Local/Remote and Auto/Manual control modes allow the unit to be operated from a front-panel console or integrated into a remote monitoring and control system. ITM Systems produced specialized satcom and microwave RF hardware of this type primarily from the 1980s through the 1990s, and these units remain in service in legacy ground station installations worldwide.

Condition: Used
This ITM Systems ITM-141Q Dual RF Generator has been inspected and appears to be in good condition. The front panel shows light scratching and typical surface wear consistent with rack service use; the panel labels and LED watt meter windows are intact and legible. The chassis shows normal scuffing on the top and sides. The four rear waveguide ports are present with flanges intact; some oxidation is visible on the flange surfaces, which is typical for this type of connector.
