The Imation Magnus 1.2 is a QIC-format SLR (Scalable Linear Recording) data cartridge designed for use with SLR-compatible tape backup drives. These cartridges hold up to 1.2 GB of uncompressed data and follow the QIC standard widely used in the 1990s and early 2000s for workstation and small server data backup.

Applications
SLR/QIC data cartridge tapes were a mainstream backup medium for desktop workstations and entry-level servers during the 1990s. The Magnus 1.2 format is compatible with SLR tape drives from manufacturers such as Tandberg Data and Exabyte, as well as drives sold under OEM labels by HP, Compaq, and others during that era. These cartridges are primarily sought today for data recovery and archival purposes — retrieving old backup sets from legacy systems — as well as by collectors of vintage computing media. The SLR/QIC standard has been largely superseded by LTO and other higher-capacity formats in modern environments.
These Imation Magnus 1.2 SLR data cartridge tapes are used and have not been tested at our facility. Upon physical inspection, some of the tape media shows crinkling — buyers should be aware this may affect readability or playback. These are sold as-is in their current condition.
