Applications

The DHEA-38451 is a late-1990s generation desktop hard drive from IBM's Deskstar product line, designed for use in IBM-compatible PC desktop systems of that era. Drives of this type were standard storage in Pentium II and early Pentium III desktop computers running Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0. This drive was specifically supplied as an OEM unit to Dell for integration into Dell desktop systems of the same period. Today, drives like this see continued use in legacy computer restoration projects, vintage PC builds, and period-correct system repairs where IDE interface drives are required. The 40-pin PATA interface was the dominant desktop storage standard through the late 1990s and into the mid-2000s before SATA became the mainstream replacement.
