Description
Hybaid MAXI 14 Hybridization Oven 35mm Carousel Ambient +8 to 85°C 115V 250W
The Hybaid MAXI 14 is a benchtop hybridization oven designed for molecular biology applications requiring controlled incubation with continuous sample rotation. It accepts a 14-slot carousel that holds standard 35mm hybridization bottles and maintains stable temperatures across a wide range while rotating samples at selectable speeds. This unit rotates and heats normally; see condition notes regarding the dual-action shaking platform.

Applications
Hybridization ovens are standard equipment in molecular biology labs for nucleic acid hybridization procedures including Southern blotting, Northern blotting, and DNA/RNA probe hybridization. Samples in hybridization bottles are loaded onto the rotating carousel, which keeps probe solution in continuous contact with the membrane throughout the incubation period — eliminating the uneven hybridization that results from static incubation. The MAXI 14's wide temperature range (ambient +8°C to 85°C) covers the full spectrum of hybridization protocols from low-stringency to high-stringency conditions, as well as pre-hybridization blocking steps and post-hybridization wash cycles. The Hybaid MAXI series was a widely used platform in academic and commercial molecular biology labs from the 1990s onward, and the 35mm carousel format remains a recognized standard for hybridization bottle-based work.
This Hybaid MAXI 14 Hybridization Oven is in used condition and has been inspected at our facility. The carousel rotates and the unit heats normally. There is some cosmetic damage to the temperature controller buttons on the front panel — they show wear and minor physical damage, but they remain functional. The manual describes a dual-action shaking platform (linear or orbital mode), but we were unable to confirm this motion during our testing; we cannot determine whether we tested this feature correctly or whether it is non-functional. Buyers interested in the dual-action shaking feature should factor this uncertainty into their purchase decision. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
