Description
Fiberoptic Specialties 12-Port Ring Light Guide 88mm OD 51mm ID Flex Cable Scope
This is a fiber optic ring light guide from Fiberoptic Specialties, Inc. of Palmetto, FL, designed to deliver uniform, shadow-free ring illumination around a microscope objective. The unit consists of a 12-port aluminum ring mount connected by a stainless steel armored flex cable to a single fiber input tip that accepts light from a separate illuminator or light source (not included). Light enters at the ferrule tip, travels through the bundled fiber cable, and exits simultaneously through all 12 ports arranged evenly around the ring face — producing even, low-shadow lighting ideal for stereo microscopy, inspection, and close-up imaging work.

Applications
Fiber optic ring light guides like this one are standard accessories for stereo and zoom microscopes used in electronics inspection, biological specimen examination, jewelry and gem evaluation, metrology, and industrial quality control. The ring-mount form factor places illumination directly around the optical axis of the microscope, virtually eliminating directional shadows that would obscure fine surface detail. The flexible armored cable allows the input tip to be positioned into an external illuminator's output port — typically a quartz halogen or fiber optic cold light source — while the ring sits at the microscope's working distance. The 88mm OD and 51mm ID are common dimensions compatible with a wide range of stereo microscope stands and ring-light mounting brackets. Fiberoptic Specialties has produced fiber optic illumination accessories for laboratory and industrial microscopy since the latter decades of the twentieth century, and their ring light guides remain in active use in research and inspection settings. A compatible separate light source is required to use this cable; please contact us for inventory availability if needed.
This Fiberoptic Specialties 12-port fiber optic ring light guide has been inspected and is in good used condition. The aluminum ring body and stainless steel armored flex cable show light surface wear consistent with prior use, but the assembly is structurally intact with no cracks, breaks, or damage to the fiber bundle. All 12 output ports are present and the unit was illuminated for photo documentation, as shown in our photos. Note: a light source or power supply is not included with this listing — the ring light guide cable only is what ships. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
