The EF Data PS310 is a rackmount SSPA (Solid State Power Amplifier) power supply chassis designed to power up to three SSPA units in satellite communications ground equipment. The chassis houses an internal Lambda Electronics LZS500-2 regulated power supply module and provides independent power and RF power monitoring for each of three SSPA channels from a single rack-mountable enclosure.

Applications

The EF Data PS310 is used in satellite earth station and VSAT installations to supply regulated DC power to solid state power amplifiers (SSPAs), which boost the uplink RF signal before it reaches the antenna feed. EF Data (later acquired by Comstream and then ViXS/Encompass) was a well-known manufacturer of satellite modems, amplifiers, and related ground equipment; their SSPA power supply chassis like the PS310 were common in commercial and government satellite uplink sites from the 1990s into the 2000s. The PAS2 TAR designation suggests this unit was configured for a specific satellite teleport or earth station deployment. The three-channel design allows a single chassis to supply power to a redundant or multi-carrier SSPA arrangement, a standard practice in professional satellite uplink systems where amplifier redundancy is required. The Lambda LZS500-2 internal supply is a well-regarded regulated switching supply rated for up to 500W, providing stable DC voltage in the 10–15.75V range to drive SSPA modules.

This EF Data PS310 SSPA Power Supply chassis has been inspected and appears to be in good condition. The unit shows typical surface wear consistent with prior rackmount use — light scuffing on the top cover and chassis sides — but the front panel labels, controls, and indicators are intact and legible. The rear multi-pin SSPA connectors and AC inlets appear undamaged. The internal Lambda LZS500-2 regulated power supply module is present and the internal wiring harness is intact as seen in the photos. The included 12 AWG AC power cable is present.
