Description
DTC 5280 CRA 16-Bit ISA MFM Hard Drive Floppy Controller Card Rev B HDD FDD
The DTC 5280 CRA is a full-length 16-bit ISA expansion card designed to interface MFM (Modified Frequency Modulation) hard drives and floppy disk drives with IBM PC/AT-compatible systems. MFM was the dominant hard disk encoding standard for PC/AT systems throughout the mid-to-late 1980s, and dedicated combo controller cards like this one were required to manage both the hard drive and floppy subsystems on a single expansion slot. The board carries Assembly Revision B per the label visible on the PCB.

Applications
The DTC 5280 CRA was designed for IBM PC/AT-compatible desktop computers using the 16-bit ISA bus, prevalent in systems of the mid-to-late 1980s running MS-DOS. It allows a single expansion slot to manage both an MFM hard disk and one or more floppy drives, making it a staple combo controller for XT/AT-era builds and restorations. Today these cards are primarily sought by vintage computer enthusiasts, retrocomputing collectors, and technicians maintaining or restoring period-correct PC/AT systems, IBM clones, and early DOS workstations that require MFM drive support. Compatible systems include IBM PC/AT, and a wide range of AT-compatible machines from manufacturers such as Compaq, Tandy, and generic AT clones of the era.
Please note: We may have multiple units of this item in stock. The unit you receive may vary slightly from the one shown in the photos. All units are functionally equivalent and inspected to the same standard.
This DTC 5280 CRA 16-Bit ISA MFM Hard Drive and Floppy Controller Card has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The PCB is clean and green with no visible cracks, burns, or broken traces. Normal light wear consistent with prior installation and removal from a PC/AT system is present. The bracket is intact and the ISA edge connector contacts appear clean. This card has not been bench-tested or powered at our facility; it is sold as a used surplus component.
