Description
CI Systems SR-5000 Computerized IR Spectroradiometer IEEE-488 GPIB No Computer
The CI Systems SR-5000 is a benchtop computerized infrared spectroradiometer designed for remote sensing and electro-optical system characterization. Made by CI Systems (Electro-Optical Systems) of Israel, it measures spectral radiance and irradiance of infrared sources at defined target distances, with a front-panel distance scale ranging from 3 to 100 meters. The unit operates as a standalone optical instrument and connects to an external computer via IEEE-488 (GPIB) for data acquisition and control — no computer or software is included with this listing.

Applications
The CI Systems SR-5000 is used for laboratory and field characterization of infrared sources and electro-optical systems. Instruments of this type are used to measure the spectral radiance, irradiance, and intensity of IR emitters — including blackbody sources, IR scene projectors, flares, missile seekers, and thermal targets — against calibrated reference standards at defined standoff distances. The IEEE-488 (GPIB) interface allows the instrument to be controlled by and to stream data to a host computer running acquisition software, making it suitable for automated test setups and data logging. The SR-5000 was principally used in defense, aerospace, and electro-optical R&D environments — including government labs, defense contractors, and university research facilities — for testing and characterizing infrared sensors, imagers, and seekers. The purge port allows the internal optical path to be purged with dry nitrogen or clean dry air, which is standard practice in IR instrumentation to eliminate atmospheric absorption from CO₂ and water vapor. Filter wheel selection enables measurement across specific infrared sub-bands. This instrument dates from the mid-to-late 1990s based on the 1997 manufacture date visible on the internal filter component label.
This CI Systems SR-5000 Computerized IR Spectroradiometer has been inspected and appears to be in good condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was actively in use and functional. The instrument is complete with its preamplifier cable; no computer or software is included. Cosmetically the chassis is in good shape with some dust accumulation on the rear cooling fan grille consistent with field use. The internal optical bench and components appear intact and undamaged.
