Description

Blackstone SL-4 Double Cut Carbide Burr Taper 1/2" x 1-3/16" 1/4" Shank 0301672

This is a Blackstone SL-4 double cut taper carbide burr with a 1/2" cutting diameter, 1-3/16" cutting length, and a standard 1/4" shank for use in die grinders and rotary tools. The SL designation indicates a taper shape with a 14-degree included angle, and the double cut pattern removes material quickly while leaving a smoother finish than a single cut.

Applications

Carbide burrs are rotary cutting tools used in die grinders, air tools, and flexible shaft machines for shaping, grinding, deburring, and material removal on metal, wood, plastic, and composites. The taper (SL) shape is well-suited for working inside angled surfaces, chamfering, and accessing recessed areas that straight or ball-end profiles cannot reach. Double cut flutes are the standard choice for ferrous metals — the crossed tooth pattern cuts in both directions of rotation, accelerating stock removal and producing a finer surface than a single cut. This burr's 1/2" diameter and 1/4" shank make it a common size for benchtop die grinders used in fabrication shops, automotive repair, foundry work, weld cleanup, and general machining. At 22,500–60,000 RPM, it operates within the range of most air-powered and electric die grinders.
