Description

Black Box LE600A 4-Port Fan-Out Unit Garrett Communications Token Ring Multiport

The LE600A is a 4-port fan-out unit designed for Token Ring network environments. It distributes a single Token Ring connection across four DB-15 ports, enabling connection of multiple devices to a single ring segment.

Specifications & What's Included

  • Model: LE600A
  • Ports: 4 (DB-15 D-Sub 15-pin connectors)
  • Status Indicators: Per-port TX, PWR, PASS LEDs; COLL, RCV LEDs
  • Form Factor: Desktop / Rackmount
  • Unit only; no cables or accessories included

Applications

Token Ring fan-out units were used in enterprise network environments to extend connectivity from a single MAU (Multistation Access Unit) port to multiple workstations or network segments. This device is compatible with IBM Token Ring systems and other Token Ring-based networks that operated through the 1990s and early 2000s. Typical deployments included office LANs, departmental networks, and facility-wide ring topologies where port expansion was needed without adding additional MAU hardware.
