Applications

The EL402 was designed for automated washing of 96-well microplates in laboratory ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) and immunoassay applications. Microplate washers like the EL402 are used to remove unbound reagents, antibodies, or analytes between assay steps, a critical function for assay accuracy and reproducibility. Bio-Tek Instruments (now BioTek, part of Agilent) was a well-regarded manufacturer of microplate instrumentation, and the EL402 was a standard fixture in clinical research, pharmaceutical, and academic labs from the 1980s onward. This type of benchtop washer is still sought after for smaller labs, teaching environments, or facilities running legacy assay protocols that don't require a fully automated liquid-handling system.
