This listing is for a pair of ASUS ASU016 RDRAM continuity terminator spacer cards, part number PB-2X001X01-R10. These are bare printed circuit board spacers — they contain no memory chips — designed to be installed in empty RIMM slots on RDRAM-equipped motherboards. Applications

RDRAM (Rambus DRAM) motherboards require all RIMM slots to be populated at all times — even slots not holding active memory modules must have a continuity terminator card installed. Without a terminator in every empty slot, the RDRAM channel cannot function and the system will not boot. These ASUS ASU016 spacers fulfill that requirement, acting as signal pass-throughs that keep the RDRAM channel electrically continuous across unpopulated slots.

RDRAM was used primarily in the late 1990s and early 2000s, most notably on Intel 820 and 850 chipset motherboards as well as ASUS boards designed around those platforms. While RDRAM has been superseded by DDR memory in modern systems, a significant number of these machines remain in service for legacy industrial, embedded, and specialty computing applications. Replacement terminator spacers like these are increasingly hard to find, making them a sought-after spare for anyone maintaining RDRAM-based hardware.
