Description
Samsung MR16R082GBN1-CK8 256MB PC800-45 RDRAM RIMM Rambus Memory Module
The Samsung MR16R082GBN1-CK8 is a 256MB PC800-45 RDRAM RIMM (Rambus Inline Memory Module) designed for Intel platforms that require Direct Rambus DRAM. Running at 800MHz with a 45ns latency rating and a 16-bit bus width, this module carries the internal Samsung configuration code CX128X16RIMM8 and the board part number MOD001754-00. The metal heat spreader is a standard feature of all RDRAM RIMMs, required because Rambus memory runs significantly hotter than contemporary SDRAM or DDR modules.

Applications
Rambus DRAM was Intel's designated high-bandwidth memory technology for its late-1990s and early-2000s Pentium III and early Pentium 4 platforms. The PC800-45 RIMM standard was specifically required by Intel's 820, 820E, 850, and 850E chipsets, found on motherboards marketed roughly from 1999 through 2003. Unlike SDRAM or DDR, RDRAM used a narrow high-frequency serial channel rather than a wide parallel bus, which gave it strong peak bandwidth but also generated considerably more heat — hence the mandatory heat spreader on every RIMM slot, including the unused slots, which had to be filled with C-RIMM (Continuity RIMM) terminator modules to complete the channel. RDRAM systems were used in high-end workstations, enthusiast desktops, and some Intel-based servers of the era. Today this module is sought by collectors and technicians maintaining legacy Pentium 4 and Pentium III systems based on the Intel 820 or 850 chipset families. Note that RDRAM RIMMs are not interchangeable with SDRAM DIMMs or DDR DIMMs — the motherboard must specifically support the RDRAM/RIMM standard.
This Samsung MR16R082GBN1-CK8 256MB PC800-45 RDRAM RIMM memory module has been inspected and is in good condition. The heat spreader and PCB are clean with no visible damage or corrosion. The gold edge connector contacts look intact. Normal light handling wear is present. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
