The unit is UL listed and is specified to be replaced only with a thermally protected type ballast.

Applications
Magnetic T12 Slimline ballasts like the SM-2E75-S-TP were the standard power-regulation component in commercial and industrial fluorescent lighting fixtures from the mid-20th century through the 1990s. T12 Slimline lamps use a single-pin base and are driven at constant current (430 mA in this case), with the ballast limiting and stabilizing the arc current to prevent lamp runaway. This ballast is suited for use in replacement or restoration of older strip lights, shop lights, warehouse fixtures, and architectural lighting systems that were built around 96", 84", 72", 64", or 60" T12 Slimline tubes. While T12 fluorescent technology has been largely superseded by T8 and LED systems in new construction, replacement magnetic ballasts remain in demand for maintaining and repairing existing T12 fixtures still in service in older commercial and industrial buildings.
