Applications

The Zilog Z80 is one of the most widely used 8-bit microprocessors ever produced, introduced by Zilog in 1976 and subsequently manufactured under license by SGS-Thomson, NEC, Sharp, and other foundries through the 1980s and into the 1990s. It was the central processor in a broad range of personal computers — including the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, TRS-80, MSX platform, and the CP/M ecosystem of business machines — as well as countless embedded control, industrial, and consumer electronics designs.
