Applications

The Dynaserv DD (direct drive) servo system was designed for high-precision motion control applications where zero backlash and exceptional positional accuracy are critical. Typical applications include semiconductor wafer handling and inspection equipment, precision optical positioning stages, robotics, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and high-speed pick-and-place systems. The Yokogawa Dynaserv line was widely adopted in the 1980s and 1990s across Japanese and international semiconductor fabrication and precision automation industries. Because the motor is directly coupled to the load — with no intervening gearbox, belt, or leadscrew — these systems achieve very high dynamic stiffness and smooth, repeatable motion. The SR1015B82 controller interfaces with a matched Dynaserv direct drive motor via the CN2 connector harness, and accepts velocity, position, and torque commands through its analog and serial interfaces. These systems remain in use today in legacy semiconductor, optics, and research automation equipment, and replacement controllers are actively sought for maintenance of installed systems.
