Description

Weston 301-57 Panel Meter DC Ammeter 0-2 Amperes Analog Gauge Round Mount

The Weston Model 301-57 is a round panel-mount analog DC ammeter with a 0–2 ampere range graduated in 0.5A increments. It uses a d'Arsonval moving-coil mechanism behind a white-faced dial clearly marked "AMPERES D.C." and branded Weston, mounted in a round black bakelite housing designed for panel cutout installation. Two brass binding post terminals on the rear provide the electrical connections.

Applications

Panel-mount DC ammeters like the Weston 301-57 are used to monitor direct current flow in electrical panels, control boards, and custom instrument enclosures. Weston Instruments was a long-established American manufacturer of precision electrical measuring instruments, and their panel meters were standard in industrial control panels, power distribution boards, battery charger systems, and laboratory bench setups from the mid-20th century onward. This style of moving-coil panel meter remains useful today in vintage electrical restorations, custom control panels, ham radio equipment, generator monitoring, and any application requiring a direct-reading DC current indicator in the 0–2 ampere range. The round panel-mount format suits standard circular cutouts common in switchgear and instrument panels of that era.
