Description
Welch 1400 DuoSeal Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump Dual Stage Belt-Drive 115V KF-16
The Welch 1400 DuoSeal is a dual-stage, belt-drive rotary vane vacuum pump designed for demanding laboratory and industrial vacuum applications. It runs on 115V AC and features a KF-16 (KF16 / DNKF16) intake port. This unit has been tested and is in good working condition, pulling to approximately 0.75 micron (the pump was originally rated at 1 micron when new).

Applications
The Welch 1400 DuoSeal is a workhorse two-stage rotary vane pump widely used wherever a reliable rough-to-medium vacuum is needed. It is commonly used as a backing pump for turbomolecular pumps and diffusion pumps in high-vacuum systems, where it maintains the foreline pressure required for those pumps to operate. Other typical applications include vacuum furnace evacuation, rotary evaporation (Rotovap), freeze drying, epoxy and resin degassing, vacuum distillation, vacuum sterilization, refrigeration system evacuation, backing mass spectrometers, and vacuum centrifuge systems. The dual-stage design allows it to reach deeper ultimate pressures than single-stage pumps, making it suitable for applications that need to get below 1 micron. The belt-drive configuration isolates motor vibration from the pump head, which is useful in vibration-sensitive lab setups. The KF-16 (Klein Flange / NW-16) intake fitting is a standard vacuum quick-connect used widely across laboratory vacuum systems, making this pump straightforward to integrate into an existing vacuum line.
This Welch 1400 DuoSeal Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump has been tested and is in good working condition, pulling to approximately 0.75 micron. The housing shows rust, as visible in the photos. The exhaust filter housing is included along with the exhaust mist cover; no filter membrane is installed. The pump ships with the oil drained — oil must be added before operating the pump. Note that we have multiple units; the one you receive will be in similar but not identical physical condition to the unit photographed. Please review our photo set and contact us with any questions.
