Description
Vision Engineering Mantis Stereo Microscope X4 Objective Eyepieceless Ergo Stand
The Vision Engineering Mantis is a patented eyepieceless (lensless) stereo microscope designed for prolonged precision inspection work. Instead of conventional eyepieces, the Mantis uses a large ergonomic viewer that allows the operator to work with eyes in a natural, relaxed position — eliminating the fatigue associated with traditional binocular scopes. This unit powers on, the illumination lights up, and the viewer is functional.

Applications
The Vision Engineering Mantis is widely used in electronics manufacturing and PCB assembly inspection, soldering quality control, and fine mechanical assembly environments where extended viewing sessions are required. Its eyepieceless design was developed specifically to reduce operator fatigue during repetitive close-inspection tasks — a genuine differentiator from conventional stereo microscopes. Common deployment environments include electronics production lines, repair benches, semiconductor packaging inspection, medical device assembly, and watch/instrument repair workshops. The Mantis has been a staple of precision inspection benches since its introduction in the 1980s and remains actively used in these industries today. Its articulating arm configuration allows flexible positioning over large or oddly shaped workpieces without the constraints of a fixed-column stand.
This Vision Engineering Mantis eyepieceless stereo microscope powers on, the illumination lights up, and the viewer functions — all confirmed prior to listing. The unit includes one X4 objective and one of its two light bulbs; the second bulb, its bulb cover, and the associated lens are missing. There is one melted spot on the plastic piece where the objective carousel mounts on the underside of the head — visible in the photos. The articulating arm and stand column with base are included and show typical scuffing and handling wear consistent with lab use. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
